Power Apps project
Overview and business requirements
You are working for the Red Bluff Golf Course. Red Bluff has recently purchased a small Par-3 golf course and driving range in a small Midwest town. The course also has a pro shop where golfers can purchase golf accessories and clothing. The pro shop is also where customers pay for the rounds of golf they plan and can schedule lessons with golf professionals.
For this project you have been asked to create an app within Teams that will allow employees in the pro shop to schedule lessons with the golf professionals. The pro shop previously had an older, web-based, scheduling system which has since been decommissioned.
At first this will be a simple system and should be thought of as a prototype or beta version of a future application. The overall requirements are as follows:
• The application will be located in the Red Bluff channel of your personal course Team.
• The primary function of the application will be to enter a new scheduled time for a customer or group of customers to receive a golf lesson.
• Make two tables for this application. The first table should be for the names and information regarding the Golf Pros (see GolfPros.xlsx in Canvas). The second table should be for the golf lesson information.
o In the golf lesson table, create a field named Full Name that will display the name of the Golf Pro assigned to the lesson. Use the “Lookup” data type and use the Golf Pro table as the related table.
• By default the application should schedule a single customer. If a group of customers is to be scheduled a new text input control should appear and ask how many customers are in the group.
• The date of the lesson must occur in the future. We do not schedule lessons on the same day and we need to give the golf pros advanced notice of lessons. The default date on the form. should be two days from the current date. Assume lessons can occur any day of the week.
• For this phase of the project, we are not concerned with scheduling conflicts. We will add that functionality at a later point. Additionally, while most lessons are 60 minutes in duration, we will not worry about length of time of the lesson at this point.
• Each lesson should be priced at $150 by default. This is our individual lesson rate.
o Add a field that multiples this value by the number of individuals in the lesson and calculates a total.
• Your managers have requested the app contain the following:
o An edit button
o An cancel button
o An button that saves the active record and continues editing
o An button that saves the record and resets the form. for a new record.
• The application must post a message to the Red Bluff channel announcing the newly scheduled lesson and the details of the lesson. The message must be professional in tone, with no grammatical or spelling errors.
o Details of the lesson must be provided in the post. Stating “You have a new lesson scheduled” will not be sufficient. All information from the lesson must appear in the channel post.
• Golf pros will check the channel regularly, but to ensure they see messages they should be @mentioned. For the purposes of this project, use [email protected] as the contact information.
• The application must be built with Responsive Design in mind. Given that Teams is commonly used on mobile devices, the form. must be functional on most common tablets and phones.
• Functionality is the primary goal. Your application should also have a professional appearance. Choose a color scheme and/or images to enhance your application. You can use stock.adobe.com with your IU Credentials for as a resource.
Technical requirements
As you begin planning and building your application, here are a few points to guide you.
· This project is to be built within MS Teams. You can use any operating system or device for building and testing your application.
· You may work in teams of two for this project. Your partner must be in your assigned Canvas section. You may not form. teams of more than two students.
· You will need a list of the current golf professionals for Red Bluff. These are located in the GolfPros.xlsx file posted in Canvas. You may add to this list for testing purposes if you wish.
· In using any communications in the application, use [email protected] for username/email fields.
Submitting your final project
· Since your application will reside in Teams, you will submit a link to your Red Bluff channel in the Power Apps Project assignment in Canvas.
· All assignments must be submitted prior to the posted due date in Canvas. This due date is in Eastern Standard Time (EST).
· Editing your tables and/or application after the posted due date in Canvas will be considered academic misconduct. See the course syllabus for policies regarding academic misconduct. Please note that Dataverse/Teams maintains a table of modified dates on tables and apps.
