Strategic Management and Decision Making
What this paper is about
Strategic Management and Decision-Making is designed as an applied integrative approach to strategy emphasising the current strategic issues of business and modern approaches to resolving them. In a world of uncertainty how should modern businesses best deal with supply chain issues, digital transformation, potentially conflicting sustainability and growth pressures and other complex challenges. The process and mindset of strategy are critical to enhance the likelihood of success. We combine conceptual models of strategy with guest speakers and cases to elaborate, explain and tackle a balanced approach to modern strategy decisions.
How this paper will be taught
This course is run as a flexi paper so all class materials, workshops and guest speakers will be available online. Ideally students, if not attending face-to-face, will be able to watch workshops online synchronously so as to be able to engage in the interactive nature of class. There are tutorials that begin in week 2 to allow us to more deeply explore cases and the application of models and strategic thinking to real world situations. Cases also drive the core of the assessment in this course culminating in a case competition.
