COMP1002/8802 - Lab 10 Worksheet

You must complete this worksheet during your lab/workshop and have your answers for the (marked) parts checked by your tutor before the end of the session. Marks are awarded out of two, where completing only some of the tasks will award partial marks.

Part 1 - Access Copilot

Copilot is a generative AI program created my Microsoft and is provided for free to all Flinders University students. This version of Copilot has enterprise data protection enabled, which ensures the privacy of all data provided to Copilot.

How to access Copilot

1.   Go to Microsoft Copilot 一 https://copilot.microsoft.com

2.   SeIect (Sign in’on the top right corner of the browser and Iog in with your FIinders University credentials. If prompted, select the Work option, rather than Personal.

3.   Once logged in, you will have full access to the data protection benefits.

4.   Look for the shieId icon next to the (New Chat’button (top right) to ensure your data is protected.

5.   Start using Copilot by typing in the chat box. You can ask questions, request information, generate content, or chat with Copilot.

Part 2 - Text Generation (marked)

Ask Copilot the following prompts and record its responses:

1.   How many r’s are in the word strawberry?

2.   What is 567 + 762 * 439?

3.   What is the best country in the world?

4.   Generate a random number between 1 and 100

5.   Play a game of Tic-Tac-Toe

Make sure to note if Copilot got the response correct or not, and if the responses are incorrect are you able to get Copilot to fix its answer.

Part 3 - Image Generation (marked)

Ask Copilot to generate images for the following prompts and record its responses:

1.   A picture of a giant dog

2.   A picture of the first man on the moon

3.   A picture of Flinders University Campus

4.   A glass of wine, full all the way up to the brim

5.   A sandwich that does not have any bread

Make sure to note if Copilot was able to generate the image successfully or not (in your opinion) and if the image is inaccurate are you able to get Copilot to regenerate a better picture.

BONUS: See if you can find any other images that Copilot is not able to generate.

Part 4 - Copilot Storybook (marked)

Using what you have learned from experimenting with Copilot in the previous parts of this worksheet, try to generate a full children’s storybook (including both word and pictures). The book should include several pictures and accompanying sentences, that result in a complete story with a moral at the end. The story can be about anything you want, but needs to include the following characters:

-    A kangaroo who likes to play cricket

-    An old woman who wears a bright green hat

-    A young boy with a toy boat

Bonus 1 - Image Understanding

Upload a picture of yourself to Copilot and ask for some helpful fashion tips!

Note. Make sure not to upload pictures of anyone else to Generative AI tools such as Copilot without their permission

Bonus 2 - Responsible Usage of AI Tools

Generative AI can be a helpful tool when studying, but an overreliance on it comes with many risks and detrimental effects. Students using GenAI are strongly encouraged to understand university expectations. For more information, follow the resources below:
