Your challenge: Creating your own visual content

The first part of Assignment 2 asks you to design and create a static learning object. Examples of a static learning object are slides, infographics, and posters.

Remember to check the assignment details page! However the below sections will help you prepare for the first part of assignment 2.

1. The Challenge

Task

In doing this part of the assignment you should:

1. Explain the context and purpose:

· Who are the learners and how this resource is intended to be used? This is likely to impact how the object is designed and will help us understand your design better. For example, designing an infographic to be used as part of a flipped classroom for year 9 students is likely to have different requirements than a slide for in-class activities of year 12 students. (approx. 50 words)

· State the learning objective(s) for the artefact. (approx. 50 words)

2. Provide a copy of the object. You might like to do a screenshot of the object and annotate it to draw our attention to specific design elements. The technical skill of creating the object is not the focus of assessment. We are interested in seeing the depth of your thinking around the design for your learners and therefore step 3 is the most important aspect of your submission.

3. Explain your design decisions in relation to the theory, literature, and course content. Your design may not be perfect which is AOK. Most learning materials are limited in some way and could be improved. So, in addition to explaining why you designed things in a specific way, you can also show off your understanding of the topic by discussing how and why the object could be improved.
