Assessment Task
This assessment task requires you to produce a portfolio of work that creatively and critically engages with course content and class activities. You will create 6 'communication artefacts' (using digital tools) in response to 'set tasks' each day of the course.
● 'Set tasks' are introduced between Day 1 and Day 6.
● On Day 7 there will be a dedicated session for refining these into 'artefacts', and submitting a complete portfolio.
Please refer to the "in-class" pages of the course Modules on Canvas for more information about each portfolio task. You can also check the complete list at Assessment Resources.
The format of your digital portfolio is up to you. But it must aim to be professional and cohesive in presentation.
The portfolio must include the elements listed below.
Required portfolio components
For this assessment, your portfolio must include:
● A cover page or front page (depending on format) with 'About Me' section.
● A statement of authorship, following the course guidance.
● 6 digital communication artefacts (from the set tasks), each with a 150-word rationale (one for each artefact), 900 words total (+/-10%).
○ Each should cover the context, audience, purpose and message of your approach, your interpretation of the set task, and reflections on your creative practice and skill development.
● Citations and references using APA 7 style.
○ These may accompany each artefact or be included in a separate reference list as part of your portfolio.
Assessment purpose
Portfolios are not only useful ways of keeping track of the development of your creative practice and skills but are also key career tools that showcase your development and experience. The purpose of this assessment is to get your portfolio-practice started to set you up for your future studies and professional career. It is important to begin documenting your work and compiling artefacts from an early stage, so you have an evolving portfolio that can be shared as needed with collaborators, prospective employers and/or other stakeholders.
The portfolio you build in this course is designed to be a starting point, with tasks that encourage you to explore different forms of digital communication and creative artefacts. These tasks also mirror industry practice, where you are expected to work on demand to short deadlines and be self-directed as you experiment with different tools and design choices.
You will be assessed on the following criteria:
1. Required components (10%)
2. Artefact quality and functionality (25%)
3. Artefact originality and creativity (25%)
4. Portfolio presentation and rationale (30%)
5. Communication (10%)
