This assignment covers the following Learning Outcomes from 9230 Contemporary Leadership and Management.
● [LO #4] Demonstrate an ability to engage in continuous reflection and learning and to apply that reflectivity in a student's own practice as leaders and managers
This assignment is an individual assignment, is weighted at 30% of the overall (total) weighting and is marked out of 60 marks/points. Refer to the marking rubric attached to the last section of this assignment.
The objectives of this and previous assignments are to develop:
1. Ethical practice: a commitment to sustainability and high ethical standards in social and professional practices
2. Lifelong learning: the ability to be responsive to change, to be inquiring and reflective in practice, through information literacy and autonomous, self-managed learning.
3. Communication and social skills: the ability to communicate and collaborate with individuals, and within teams, in professional and community settings.
4. Cultural competences: an ability to engage with diverse cultural and bi-cultural perspectives in both global and local settings and in the context of the Treaty of Waitangi (three principles: partnership, participation and protection).
Assignment Task
Write a Reflective (Written) Report using the specified structure and content. In this reflective writing exercise, you are reflecting on your learnings throughout this course. The word count for this reflective writing report is minimum 2500 words.
Refer to the "Resources - Reflective Writing and Frameworks" section of this assignment for resources on the reflective writing style.
Reflective Writing Report - Content and Structure
1. Introduction (5 marks)
● Briefly introduce yourself and describe your leadership and managerial background or experience prior to starting this course, considering both employment/work and outside work settings.
● Clearly state the purpose of this report and outline its structure.
2. Reflection on Learning about Leadership and Management (10 marks)
● Explore your key takeaways related to leadership and management theories, concepts, and practices covered in the course.
○ Emphasise how these learnings relate to specific theories discussed in in class sessions and in the provided course material.
● Analyse how your understanding of leadership and management has evolved throughout the course.
3. Reflection on Learning about Teams (10 marks)
● Analyse your learnings about team dynamics, collaboration, and effective team leadership practices.
