Two-port Networks

1. A two port network is shown below.

(a) Determine the related z-parameter.

(b) Determine the related y-parameter.

2.  The  z-parameter  of  the  two-port  network  is  given  by [Z] = [50 10 30 20] Ω .

Calculate the average power delivered to the 100-Ω resistor.

3. Let y12 = y21 = 0, y11 = 2 mS, andy22 = 10 mS, find the ratio of Vo/Vs.


Magnetically Coupled Circuits

1. The figure below shows 3 coils connected in series but all the coils are magnetically coupled. The self-inductances and mutual inductances are as shown in the figure.

(a) Find the total equivalent inductance (Leq) between terminals A and B.

(b) If the coils are connected to a voltage supply v(t)=10cos(104t) V, find the equivalent impedance of the 3 magnetically coupled coils.

2. Calculate the power supplied to the 10-Ω resistor for the given ideal transformer circuit.

3. A steady AC voltage source of v1  = 10 sin(100t) V  supplies the circuit as shown in the  figure.  The  two  inductors L1 and L2 are  magnetically  coupled,  and  the  coupling coefficient between them is 0.9.

(a) With the windings as shown in the figure, draw the circuit diagram with appropriate dot locations of the coupled inductors.

(b) Write a complete set of mesh equations about the circuit.
